מַאְפֵּלְיָה

מַאְפֵּלְיָהf. (b. h.; preced.) 1) darkness, gloom. Yalk. Jer. 267 (ref. to Jer. 2:31) שמא … שהיא נאה והיא ארץ מ׳ did I tell them that it was a beautiful land, and it was a land of gloom? 2) (homil.) lateness, procrastination. Ib. ד״א מאפילה שמאוכ׳ (corr. acc.) another interpretation; did I promise to bring you good things and procrastinate it? ואין מ׳ אלא לשון הלקשה, v. הַלְקָשָׁה; Tanḥ. Bmidb. 2; Masé 9; Num.
